Just-in-Time (JIT) production is a manufacturing management approach in which items are produced and supplied only when needed and only in the quantities required, minimizing inventory and work-in-progress. Pioneered by Toyota through the kanban system, it aims to eliminate all forms of waste in the production process. The system is driven by downstream processes pulling materials from upstream processes on demand.
