KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator — a quantitative metric set by an organization to measure progress toward its goals. In information system strategies and business plans, KPIs are used to track and manage whether activities are advancing as intended. While a KGI (Key Goal Indicator) represents the ultimate objective, KPIs typically serve as intermediate milestones along the path to achieving it.
