A wireless LAN security measure that pre-registers the MAC addresses (the unique 48-bit hardware addresses of network devices) of permitted devices in an access point and rejects connection requests from unregistered devices. It provides access control based on device-specific identifiers, blocking communication even if an unauthorized device attempts to join the same SSID. However, because MAC addresses can be spoofed, this measure alone does not constitute strong security.
