The Public Personal Authentication Service (公的個人認証サービス) is a Japanese government service that enables citizens to prove their identity when submitting administrative procedures online, such as e-Tax filings. It relies on digital certificates stored on IC cards to authenticate users. Originally implemented on the Basic Resident Register Card, the service has since migrated to the My Number card.
