Symmetric-key cryptography is an encryption method in which the same key is used for both encryption and decryption. Because the key must be shared securely between communicating parties in advance, the number of keys to manage grows with the number of communication partners. Compared with public-key cryptography, it requires significantly less computation and is faster to execute.
