A contract for work (ukeoi keiyaku) is a contractual arrangement under Japan's Civil Code in which the contractor undertakes to complete a defined piece of work and the client pays remuneration upon completion. The contractor is obligated to deliver the finished result and bears liability for defects discovered within a specified period. The contractor is not required to personally perform all work and may sub-contract portions to third parties.
