A type of non-volatile semiconductor memory that can be electrically erased and rewritten. Because it retains data without power, it is used in a wide range of devices such as digital camera memory cards, USB drives, and smartphone storage. Compared with hard disk drives, it is more resistant to physical shock and is smaller and lighter.
