One of the four competitive position types in market theory, referring to a company that imitates the market leader's products and strategies, focuses on cost reduction, and competes on price to maintain or grow its market share. A follower avoids direct confrontation with larger rivals and seeks a stable position rather than challenging for market leadership. The concept comes from Kotler's competitive position framework.
