In IT service management (ITSM), any event that causes or could cause a disruption or reduction in the quality of a service. This includes system failures, performance degradations, and any condition that adversely affects users. The goal of incident management is to detect, log, and restore normal service operation as quickly as possible, minimizing business impact.
